Business For Good San Diego has announced the hiring of Melinda Casey as its new full-time CEO, aiming to strengthen its role as an advocate for progressive business practices in the area. The decision comes after receiving a transformative grant from the Prebys Foundation, which granted $500,000 in July to bolster the network of purpose-driven businesses.
Casey, who most recently directed learning and engagement at the nonprofit Words Alive, will focus on expanding local policy advocacy and training programs for underprivileged entrepreneurs. Emily Renda, the board chair of Business For Good, expressed confidence in Casey, stating that her leadership will help the organization engage more with business owners and contribute to significant policy discussions shaping the local economy. Following her start, Casey is slated to meet with member businesses at events such as the upcoming Fall Fundraising Dinner.
