SAN DIEGO (AP) – Garrett Mitchell played a crucial role as the Milwaukee Brewers claimed a 3-1 victory against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night, advancing to the National League Championship Series for the second season in a row. The Brewers closed out their best-of-five Division Series in four games, marking a significant milestone by snapping their 12-game postseason road losing streak since 2018.
In the fifth inning, Mitchell tripled and scored what became the decisive run, following a stellar catch on a hit by Manny Machado in the eighth inning. Sal Frelick also contributed by scoring the first run for Milwaukee after reaching on an infield single. The Padres, despite a 429-foot homer from Fernando Tatis Jr., struggled offensively, ultimately falling short of their fourth NLCS appearance. With this victory, Milwaukee’s next challenge lies in a rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
