SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego County is currently under a tropical storm watch due to the approaching Tropical Storm Rachel. In Spring Valley, residents are utilizing free sand at sandbag fill-up sites to prepare for the incoming rainfall. One local, Daniel Lazaro, emphasized the importance of preparation, stating that getting ready is crucial for handling weather events.

Ashley Gain from the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services noted that this is the first significant rain event of the season, following a hot week. She mentioned that the county has been preparing for such weather changes since June, with Public Works conducting thorough inspections of culverts and storm drains across the region. Gain highlighted the need for residents to stay informed and recommended signing up for Alert San Diego to receive timely updates about their homes, regardless of their location.
